WCG plant sale (and WCG folks) in the news!

The SL Trib published a great article about the plant sales taking place around the valley over the next couple of weeks, including WCG’s May 9th sale…with some great pictures of our favorite tomato/veggie/herb seedling grower – Blake Glover of Cozydale Farms.

Are all of those tomatoes for us?!
Are all of those tomatoes for us?!

Our plant sale committee, comprised of stellar volunteers and of course our amazing staff, has done an incredible job organizing the plant sale this year. Thanks guys!

Also, while I was on the Trib’s gardening page, I also came across this piece about organic gardening/composting that mentions one of our volunteers, Tina Cerling, and has a great picture of one of our board members, Shea Wickleson, who has a phenomenal garden at City Academy that she and her students tend to.  Shea and her students also converted a school bus to run on biodeisel…they call it “the grease bus.”

From the Salt Lake Tribune, 4/21/09:

Shea Wickelson, science teacher at City Academy in Salt Lake City, is growing an organic garden with her students. This is the fifth year students will learn health, environmental and biology lessons through working the soil. “It’s a great way for kids who are in the city to be able to connect with the natural world,” the teacher said.
